Yvette Lyons, Ph.D., and Carla Bittencourt, M.A. are teaming up to offer a 10 month training program in Expressive Arts Therapy.  Both Dr. Yvette & Carla have years of experience in Expressive Arts Therapy.  They have trained, therapists, company leaders and other professionals to use the arts and the creative process to enrich their lives and their careers.  Now we are teaming up to offer you a lifetime of experience in one training program.

Mindfulness Therapy/Coaching Certificate
This Certificate is a combination of Mindfulness Practices woven into the Expressive Arts Training to provide you with the tools nessary to confidently work with clients. You learn how to be fully present for them and provide them with training based in personal-empowerment and wellness.

Weekend 1:
Introduction to Expressive Arts Therapy and Coaching
Creativity and the Brain
Your brain on Art, Music, Movement
The Language of Image
Archetypes the Blue Print for our Unconscious

Weekend 2:
Visual Art Therapy as a Multi-Modal Approach
Art combined with other art modalities as a healing tool
How art is incorporated into the multimodal approach to healing when working with various groups in various venues
Color, image, and form in Expressive Arts Therapy
Art and the brain and resilience
Multi-media art techniques

Weekend 3:
Sound Healing and Music as a Multi-Modal Approach
Drumming for personal, social, and global change
Music combined with other art modalities as a healing tool
The use of musical tools
Sound Bath Healing and Instrument Exploration
Music as a non-verbal language
Working with music in different venues with multi-modal techniques

Weekend 4:
Movement as a Multi-Modal Approach
Movement combined with other art modalities as a healing tool
Theoretical approaches to movement: Gabrielle Roths 5Rhythms;
Continuum Flow ~ Emily Conrad
Authentic Movement ~ and Body Mapping
Movement, Art and Music techniques combined in working with various populations
Embodiment; breathing; centering; grounding

Weekend 5:
Creative Writing and Storytelling as a Multi-Modal Approach
Storytelling as a Healing and Communication tool
Poetry, Myth, FairyTale and Expressive Arts
Archetypes & Mask Making and Expressive Arts
Mythology and the Hero's Journey

Weekend 6: July 2021
Mindfulness, Mandalas & Transformational Healing
Mindfulness-Based Expressive Arts Therapy (MBEAT) Using Expressive Arts as a Mindfulness Practice
MARI ~ Introduction to the Mandala Assessment Research Inventory
Mandalas as a transpersonal and community art modality
Healing on a Transpersonal level

Weekend 7:
Working with Different Populations:
Child/Adolescent, Creative Aging, Wellness Population, and the Clinical Populations

Weekend 8:
Group Dynamics, Group Leadership & Community Building
Working with Groups and Group Dynamics; Group Leadership and working in different venues, Community, Corporate, Schools, Families, Couples

Weekend 9:
Expressive Arts in different venues
Taking the Expressive Arts into the world
Working in different environments
Working with a variety of people
How to put it all together

Weekend 10:
Expressive Arts Coaching; Business Plan & IEATA
Identifying the difference between Expressive Arts Therapy and Expressive Arts Coaching; Making a plan for your Expressive Arts Business and Exploring the International Expressive Arts Therapy Assoc. (IEATA)

Weekend 11 & 12:
Final Student Presentations
During this last Module, students will be asked to facilitate an Expressive Arts Exercise as their final project.

Private Facebook Page
A private FB page for your training group will be included in this program. This FB page will be a safe confidential place where participants can meet in-between weekends to have ongoing support and interaction. This facebook page will be monitored by the instructor. During the month people can share their work and ask questions get feedback and collaborate.

*This certificate program is a 12 month course. We will be meeting one weekend per month. At the end of this training you will have a comprehensive understanding about how the arts are used for healing with a variety of populations in multiple settings, facilitating creative journeys in your world.
